Title – Fruit of the Spirit is Patience

Bible – Galatians 5:16-26

Good morning people of God

Once again, I am glad to welcome you to the house of living God.

I hope you all are healthy and growing well in Jesus Christ.

We are growing in Christ, do you believe? can you remember when you came the first time to this church, where were you? And where are you now? You will be able to see that the Lord has raised you in him.

In Deuteronomy, if you will pay attention to my command then you will always be at the top(head), never at the bottom (Tail).

I hope, we will follow Jesus and grow more in our spiritual life

Last week for three days I was in the Seminar of Hebrew study, where I leaned a deep fact of connectivity between the Old Testament and New Testament, even the same time, I am thankful to God that we have started our bible study of acts, even some others brothers and sisters also started their bible study. It is my prayer to God that we grow in spirit.

As we all know, we are on the sermon series of the fruit of the spirit.

Last two weeks we learned about the fruit of the spirit is love (Agape), Joy, and peace.

Does anyone here want to share, where they practiced love, joy, or peace in such a situation with the help of the Holy Spirit?

Always remember this fruit produced only by the Holy Spirit, it does not mean that we cannot in the flesh or our own ability produce this fruit.

But it is a difference between seeing a bowl of plastic fruit on the table and seeing a bowl of real fruit on the table.

22. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

23. gentleness and self-control. Against such things, there is no law

Apple trees produce apples, banana trees produce bananas, orange trees produce orange and Christian trees produce love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.  This fruit must be avid in the life of those who are rooted in Jesus Christ.

Let’s pray.

Today we are going to learn very important fruit of the spirit is patience.

As we are living in the 21st century, where it is so difficult to keep patience because we are living in a culture of impatience.

Everything became instant, instant coffee, instant food, 30 minutes domino’s pizza, instant money from ATM, instant ice cream, instant mail, instant delivery (same day Amazon), etc.

Even in our country India, people really do not want to keep patience.

Last week when I was going back from church to my home, I stopped my bike on the road because of red light, but an auto driver started a very loud horn from behind me, I said it is red light, but he doesn't want to stop in that red light.

Whenever I see in our government office, bank, hospital, metro, people do not want to stand in line, they are so impatience that they want their work to be done first, they want to go first, they want to get first, therefore they do not want to stand in line, and due to their lack of patience, there is often an atmosphere of fighting.

Between husband and wife do not have patience, therefore the rate of divorce is increasing in our country. The student does not have patience, therefore, they give up their study, even believers in the church also do not have patience in God’s promise, therefore, they want to go back to the world, where things are instant.

But before looking into today's bible, I want to tell you that it’s God’s will for us to be patient Amen.

So, what is patience?

Cambridge dictionary says patience is the “ability to wait”, or suffer without complaining”.

Another dictionary says, the ability to continue waiting or doing something for a long time without becoming angry or anxious,

The ability to accept trouble and other people's annoying behavior without complaining or becoming angry.

Hebrew word Savlanut which means patience but it comes from the root meaning “to bear” or “to suffer”.

If you will see in the KJV bible there is no mention of patience but written long-suffering

Can we ask ourselves that am i endurance?

If you are living your life in a good way, with joy and someone come to you and starts to disturb you or tease you, how do you react?

The world has one proverb Tit for Tat, but dear brothers and sisters God does not teach us this thing.

So, it is very essential to have patience in our life, because we are living in a world, where we get quick to anger, quick to get revenge, quick to respond, quick to hit someone.

I want to encourage you if you are impatient in your life, quick to anger, then we have to take this attribute of spirit is called patience/long-suffering.

In the bible, we can see there were many places Jesus was persecuted.

Let’s look into Matthew 27:11-14 (ESV)

11 Now Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” Jesus said, “You have said so.” 12 But when he was accused by the chief priests and elders, he gave no answer. 13 Then Pilate said to him, “Do you not hear how many things they testify against you?” 14 But he gave him no answer, not even to a single charge so that the governor was greatly amazed.

Here false accusations are bring brought against Jesus Christ, false witnesses are being presented, but in this situation, we can see Jesus' nature/character that “Jesus did not response anything”.

Jesus did not say anything.

How do we respond? Maybe we want to take revenge, when I was around 14 years old, my family had a division of property and my mother used to tell me all the time that it was not fair with them regarding the property and because of this, I was angry and hated on my relative at that time.

But as I grew up in Jesus Christ, the Lord got me out of such thoughts and taught me to be patient that God does everything well and all things are under his control, I need to spend my life in his spirit.

This is the character of our God; he is a long-suffering God.

God never punishes us quickly, but he waits for us.

God keep patience with us, as we make mistakes.

we do not want to listen to him, but still, he keeps patience with us. (Story of a parodical son)

In the Old Testament Bible exodus 34:5-6

5 The LORD descended in the cloud and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD.

This is the incident when the people of Israel had made a golden calf for themselves, and seeing this, Moses lost his temper and broke the 10 commandment placards.

6 The LORD passed before him and proclaimed, “The LORD, the LORD, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.

This is the nature of the lord; he is slow to anger. He keeps patience.

In Psalm 103 David says

8 The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.

9 He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger forever

God is slow to anger, and he will not keep his anger forever.

Let’s see one more verse, where we can get to know his character and he wants to make our patience too.

1 peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

Many times, we complain to God when you will come again, why do not you come right now, do not you see that I am so sad?

But our God's character is patient, he wants to give more chance to us and everyone to repent so that we may not perish but get eternal life.

Paul says in Philippians 2:5 जैसा मसीह यीशु का स्वभाव था वैसा ही तुम्हारा भी स्वभाव हो;

So, patience is the attribute of our lord therefore if we say I am the believer of Jesus Christ, then this fruit of the spirit is patience must be in us.

And as believers when we face persecution or false punishment are imposed over us.

So does the fruit of the spirit work in us at that time, do we keep our patience at that time, do we remain within our tolerance? Or we give chance the Satan (Enemy) in our life.

Satan knows very well how to win the battle with us, he wants to come into our lives and forces us to fight, he forces us to lose our tolerance and when we lose our patience, the Satna knows that he has won because he has done his work, he has stolen the attribute of God from us and put his attribute in us, fight, revenge, jealous, hated that which the Lord never teaches us.

There was one author who said like this “Patience strengthens the soul, patience sweetens our sense, patience calms our anger, patience quells jealousy, patience removes pride, patience control tongue, and patience sustains the hands.

Sometimes we fall down in our life, sometimes we fail, because we do not have patience, we do not have long-suffering, we want to take revenge, we do not want to tolerate embarrassment, we want to run, but do not want to stop and listen to the lord.

We want to be successful preachers, good worshiper leaders, good counselors, successful in the office within one day but do not try to follow in God's word.

In the bible, there are many examples of impatience.

In the garden of Eden, God said Adam and eve that do not eat the fruit of knowledge and evil, they did not keep patience, therefore they did sin.

There was Sara she wanted to be a mother, but she does not want to keep patience with God, therefore she gave Hagar (female servant) to Abraham, and told to him take her and give me a child.

Moses who also lost his patience, God told to him, go to rock and rock will give you water but she did not talk with rock, but he used his stick over the rock, therefore Moses could not able to enter into promised land

There were many examples in the bible, who did not keep endure in their life, but those who endured the Lord raised them.

Joseph, whose brothers opposed him, persecuted him, put him in a pit, sold him, and finally, he was put in jail. But joseph keep his patience and God blessed him

In the Bible when persecution came in Job’s life, when the pain came in his life, he remained faithful, he endured, and when his endurance was tested God blessed him twice.

The lord is patient and he wants that the attribute of the lord should be in us too.

Paul says in Roman 12:12,14,17,19-21

12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.

14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them.

17 Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honourable in the sight of all.

19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”

20 To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.”

21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Jesus also overcomes by evil with good. Amen

(John 18:10-11) When Jesus was in Gethsemane's garden, soldier came to arrest Jesus, so Peter did not keep patience, he could not able to endure. He took his sword, cut off the right ear of the high priest’s servant.

Jesus said to peter put your sword into its sheath, those who fight with the sword they will die with it, we do not have to fight with a sword, Jesus showed him, love, Jesus lifted his ear with love and put it again.

Until this peter received the Holy Spirit, there was no tolerance in him, but when the Holy Spirit came in him, he had learned to endure, and this same peter ready to go to prison, ready to be killed and even ready to die for Jesus Christ. Because now the attribute of Jesus Christ in him.

Dear brothers and sisters

I want to encourage you this morning to bring patience inside of your life, Let the Holy Spirit do his work in your life, God will make you patient. Say the Holy spirit come in my life.

I want to ask will you allow this gift of the spirit to fill your life? Will you allow this gift to appear in your life like fruit? Amen.

I hope we are practicing love, joy peace, and today I want you may practice in this week one more attribute of Jesus Christ that is patience.

May God bless us all and help us to live on this earth with a helper called HOLY SPIRIT

Amen

Title – Fruit of the Spirit is LOVE

Bible – Galatians 5: 16-26

16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever[a] you want.

18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;

20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions.

21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other

Jai Masih ki.

Dear brothers and sisters.

I welcome you to this beautiful Sunday service, and i hope that the Lord will fill us all with his living words.

I believe you must have spent the last week well in the Lord and you must have thanked the Lord because the number of corona diseases in our country has decreased. Always remember one thing: the Lord always listens to the words that come out of our mouths for prayer.

I thank all those brothers and sisters who, being prayer warriors, pray to the Lord every day. Well done. May God bless you.

Let’s pray

Merciful God, we thank you for the love of your cross. Thank you, Lord, for showing us this new day, and for giving us one more chance to see ourselves under your words, to correct us, and to grow. We submit this time in your hands, God; lead us in your way and speak to our hearts. We pray in the living name of Jesus Christ.

Amen

As in this morning, we read today’s scripture.

which was written by Paul especially to protect young believers in the church from the false teaching of Jewish teachers.

In Galatians 5:13–26, Paul divides people into two groups: those who live by the flesh and those who live by the spirit.

One who lives according to the flesh cannot reflect on their life in God.

And Jesus understood that our physical strength, thought, plan, and flesh cannot be used to win souls.

Therefore, in the last days of Jesus's ministry, he put more emphasis on the Holy Spirit.

John 14:26 But the counsellor, the Holy Spirit, whom the father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

John 15:7b But if I go, I will send him (Holy Spirit) to you.

Therefore, Paul has given more lighting in the Holy Spirit in his Letters

Inside of us, the Holy Spirit lives. But we many times forget that when we are living in relationship with God, with the Holy Spirit dwelling inside of us, there is fruit that happens inside or there is a mark inside of us.

We should rejoice in it, and we should pray, and ask the Lord to increase it in us.

I am really happy. For the next 8 weeks, we will spend our time in the sermon series on fruit of the spirit, and I hope God will give us a beautiful shape(AAKAR) of Christ in us through the help of the Holy Spirit.

In Galatians chapter 5, Paul is saying we are set free, we do not need to follow any law. Christ has set us free, so we have been freed from the law.

However, just because we are free does not mean we can live our lives however we want.

We are free from the law. It does not mean that we sin.

Paul gives two options to the Galatians' churches, and right now we also have two options.

Either we, as believers in Christ, live ourselves according to the spirit of God and live according to the spirit, or we live ourselves according to our flesh, and sinful nature and live as we desire to live.

This is our battle every day, whether we live by spirit or by flesh, and still today, inside of us, a battle is going on and Paul is so very well aware of it.

Galatians 5:19-21

19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, and debauchery;

20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions.

21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Paul mentions here a list of acts that describe what is going to happen if we are living according to our flesh.

But if we surrender our lives to the spirit of God, here is the fruit. Here is the fruit that you are going to find inside of your heart.

We cannot obtain this fruit/mark through our own strength, but these are fruits that the Holy Spirit bring upon us.

Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

In this passage, Paul discusses the fruit of the spirit, which is "karpos" in the Greek language, and karpos is singular.

So it is not fruits of the spirit but fruit of the spirit. It is not like characterised that some are growing and others need to work, but this is fruit that must grow together in our hearts.

Two months ago, when I was in our big room at CLF, one brother was reading this fruit of the spirit, and he said he did not have patience and self-control, but others he had.

For example, – I am a gentle person to my children, but I am not very kind, I am loving to my wife, so I have the fruit of love but when it comes to anger, I am going to hurt her. I do not have the fruit of self-control. If someone on the road side, I have the fruit of kindness, but when someone does not give me food, I lose my patience.

So many times we say, I have this fruit in my life very well, but I really need to work on other fruits."

But today, God is saying that this fruit must grow in our hearts as a group, and that this will happen when our lives are submitted to the spirit of God, and then we will be able to find this product in us.

I and you have zero capability of growing this fruit on our own. Maybe we are working on it. We will be trying to have more self-control, we will try to have more joy, we will try to produce love as God is calling you to produce. It is impossible. We are incapable of doing this all, because this is the only mark/fruit of the Holy Spirit.

As this is the first sermon of this series, that is LOVE.

There are four different Greek words for love, which can help us understand what love is.

EROS, PHILEO, STORGE, AGAPE These are four different words used for love.

The word ‘Eros’ is used to refers to beauty or goodness in the beloved.  The word Phileo, which refers brotherly love or friendship and the word Storge’ is used to refer to family loveThe word "Agape’’ which means self-sacrificing love/Godly love

Bible always speak only about agape love

Can you find agape love in the Bible? The entire bible is built on the foundation of agape love.

But in the present time, I and we all love with the emotion or object, or a person or thing that brings us great pleasure. That is why we can say, I love my children, I love my wife, I love my husband, I love my friends, I love chicken curry, I love poor people, but that is not agape love.

Agape love does not depend upon emotion or our feelings. If God love is emotion or feeling then God would be punish us.

Today my dad got a salary, so Daddy, do you know how much I love you? Today is my wife's birthday, so do you know I love you so much? Today you did very well, so I love you,

Agape love must be with loyaltysteadfastness. From the beginning of time, we can find God's steadfast love, unconditional love that is not based on his emotions for us, but on a covenant, loyalty, and obedience, and that unconditional love exists in God's heart.

1John  4:8 it says GOD IS LOVE. In Greek, God is AGAPE.

God does not love us with conditional love, as we frequently do; if something or object ceases to give us great pleasure, we can change. When we need something and someone helps us, we show our feelings for that certain period of time. Yes, that can be love.

But that is not agape love, because agape love is unconditional, Agape love is so hard. It does not come naturally from our hearts, but it is only fruit of the spirit of God inside of us.

And in 1 Corinthians 13 Paul says if I can pray in a tongue, but I do not have agape love, then I am just making a big noise. It is like shaking a key and making a noise when we are without agape love.

If I have the gift of prophecy, but do not have agape love, then I am nothing. If I have all knowledge, if i have great faith to move mountains, if i do a lot of charity, but if i do not have love, then we are nothing. This all will be useless. Agape love is so powerful that it will never go away. The gift of the Holy Spirit, prophecy, praying in tongues, having great faith is temporary, it will not be forever, but Agape love will be forever, Agape love will be a parament.

But Paul defines in verse 4-7 nature of Agape love.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

5 It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Agape love is not like love in this world. Agape love will never be temporary; after a while, it will change. Agape love is always kind, Agape love does not get jealous that Jatin got a good job and I did not. Or all the praise Jatin is getting, but I am not.

Agape love does not envy, agape love doesn’t boast,

Agape love is not proud, it is not rude, and it is not self- seeking.

Many times, we want people to give us priority, but agape love does not seek self-seeking.

Agape love does not easily arouse anger; how easily do we arouse anger?

Agape love does not keep a record of wrongs, but how many of us have long lists, and are ready for the next fight to share the list of his or her wrongdoings?

Agape love does not keep any record of wrongs.

Agape love does not delight in evil but rejoices in the truth. Agape love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres, and agape love never fails.

This is so that we are called in Jesus that we may also give Agape love.

It is self-sacrifice, therefore Jesus gave the second biggest commandment. Love your neighbours as you love yourself.

But sometimes We want to be loved, and we want everyone to love us , but many times we are unwilling to love others.

Sometimes we want people to do things for us, but we are unwilling to do things for others.

Sometimes we want kind things for ourselves, but we are unwilling to do kind things for others. That is not agape love.

Sometimes we want everything that we want and we are unwilling to love each other with limitations.

If you love someone with agape love, the bible says that it will never fail, which means this agape love will never finish.

Do you believe that God loves us as agape love?

Yes, I believe, therefore I am still in Jesus. If he did not love me as agape, perhaps I would not be here to share with you today's sermon.

If God has kept his patience over the last 13 years, then why do I not have patience toward others.

If God can extend mercy every day to me, then why do I not give mercy to others.

Many times, my actions demonstrate that I despise God, and many times, by my own thoughts, I tell God, "I don't need you, I don't need your help, I can do it by myself."

But God says that I will continue in agape love, even though you run away, I will keep my agape love for you. (parodical Son’s story)

Still, God loves us. Therefore, through his agape love, he is sewing our brokennesswoundand responding to us by saying, "I love you."

Dear brothers and sisters,

If you have love for the world in your heart, then your love will be conditional, it will be selective, it will fail, it will not let you win another soul, and one day you will tired.

But this morning, I'd like to remind you that the divine spirit of God, known as the Holy Spirit, resides within each of us. Ask him if he would allow these fruit of the spirit to grow inside of me. Surely, then surely you will see the fruit of agape love inside of you, which never fails and never finishes.

I want to suggest that we all apply this agape love this week. I hope we will face someone this week that will help us extend our agape love. It would be hard. But we need to do two things: first surrender our lack of ability before God, and second, "pray" God in this movement. I surrender myself to you and I ask that the fruit of agape love grow out of me to this person or to this situation, so we will be able to act as agape love.

May God bless us with the living word of God.

Amen.

Bible - Matthew 6:19-21, 24.   Title - Following God more than money.   Key verse - 6:24.

Praise the Lord everyone.  I welcome you all  In today's day, may God bless everyone who is present.  I believe that all of you are doing good work in your respective places.  Because when we live in this world, we believers should do what God likes.  Believers should not be on the way of this world, but like those who are pleasing to God.

As in today's word.  The words of today are spoken by Jesus.  Jesus says do not accumulate wealth on earth, where moth and moss destroys, and where thieves break in and steal, but gather for yourself riches in heaven, where neither moth and moss destroy, nor thieves break in.   (19-20).

We have to understand very carefully what Jesus meant.  Jesus did not say that you should not have money.  Or you should not be a rich person.

You should have a good job, a good home, good health, you should also have your luxuries.

But what Jesus mean is this while in a pursuit To fulfil all these things, you should not stray far away from God.  As verse 19 says, do not accumulate wealth.  Because in order to accumulate wealth, we do such things many times.  Which God doesn’t like.  Or we get so busy in accumulating wealth that we don't even know or notice when we are getting away from God.  We need money to live a good life, but more than money, we may be pleasing to God.  Because this is worldly wealth.  It may end, it is not forever.  We cannot use it for eternity.  That's why God says to collect wealth in heaven.  Because we will use it till eternity.  That's why you also have to understand how you can accumulate wealth in heaven.  Because we all know how to accumulate wealth in the world.  But through today's message we will learn how to accumulate wealth in heaven.

But there are some things which we have to understand first.

1. We should not make money by wrong means.

  2. To earn money, we cannot give up those things which bring us closer to God.

3. We have to use the money we have in the way Jesus told us.            The Bible tells us about some people in which we see that people have collected money by wrong means and they were abandoned by God and their end was very terrible.

 1. (Joshua chapter 7) If you see there, it is written about Achan, how he kept what he had offered, he coveted money and gave importance to money more than God's command.  This was not liked by God and he and his family were punished with death.

 2. (Acts 5:1-11) This is also a family that valued money more than service to God and was sentenced to death.  But I thank God that God has mercy on this day.  He does not intend to destroy us.  He is merciful and gracious to us.  He wants us to repent and become perfect from our works and He also gives us a chance to rectify our mistake.  He loves us because of which He wants to give us through Jesus the way through which we are qualified to enter the kingdom of God.

I want to tell you something about myself.  I was facing some financial problems due to covid 19.  Though God has kept me very well but my savings were getting less.  As you all know that I am a shopkeeper.  And sometime back I thought that I should increase my savings.  And for that I did some planning, I should increase my stitching charge, material rate.  And in many other ways I have improved my fee (rate).  I used to give concession to some people also.  whose financial condition was weak.  Then those of old age whose life was dependent on pension.

But I thought that I will not give any concession to anyone now.  Because I want to fulfil my needs.  And I should also increase my savings.  And I started working according to my plan.  I didn't think I was doing anything wrong.  Since this is my job, I can take my service charge as much as I want.  And I started all this.  And I was sure that I would consolidate my savings again.  But after a few days, I felt something that no, I should not do this.  This may be true according to this world.  But to be a Christian it is not right.  By doing this I can accumulate wealth on earth, but not in heaven.  I feel like maybe this method is not right.  God will not be pleased with this.  And I restrained myself, and improved myself.

I think that whenever this happens to any of you, then stop and think about what you are doing.  What you are doing is it right or wrong.  We all have that talent in us with through which we can accumulate wealth.  But when we come to Christ we leave this kind of life.  And we connect your life with the journey of Christ.

But when we live in the world then we also collect some wealth.  We are in such a place that along with money we can also help the people around us.  We should use money not only for ourselves but also for the kingdom of God and to meet the needs of the people.  As told by Jesus Christ.  (Matthew 5:41-42) Give whatever you ask for.  This is the good work by which we can help people.  Because only by doing this we will be able to accumulate wealth in heaven.                  We all need to understand that which way of life we are living on earth.  Do we want to be rich like the people of the world or please God because today's key verse says you can't do two things.   You cannot please two masters.  We all need to please God.  Because the life of the earth is of some time.  Whatever we do here, we will get the reward according to it.  And heavenly life is of eternity, so do such things so that you can accumulate wealth in heaven because we are called to inherit heavenly life.            .
