Bible Joshua chapter 2

for the Lord your God, he is God in the heavens above and on the earth beneath.

Introduction

Good Morning Guys,

How are you~ I beleive that you are good.

It is a tragedy that we some of us cannot sit together.

But I believe that soon we will be together.

This covid has changed our lives but I am pretty sure it wont change our faith in Christ.

I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. Philippians 4:11

However last year we havent thought we could do service via zoom but this is how we are doing now a days.

Lets see todays Bible and be rejoiceful that again we stand here. The world is at diffrent place but we stand here in the presence of the Lord.

Main Body

Today lets see the Word of God that is from Joshua Chapter 2

You know God gave Abraham a promise and he could not see that fulfilling.

The promise God is same in our life too.

Do you have any promise of God in your life?

I want to hear from each one of you?

What is the promise God made you?

What is one hope you have from God?

 

So even we have a promise form God. Sometimes it's difficult to see that come true.

 

It's same like with Abraham.

We may think yes I have a promise from God. Now why something is not happening.

 

I was talking to a old friend last week and I could see that despair in his eyes.

He was tired, he lost all the will.

Because he thought there is no hope now.

Although he had a promise but that was not coming to a reality and he lost hope.

 

Do you have this kind of experience?

We all must go through this, however it seems bad to have this experience but still.

 

If you have this experience, you could relate to this.

No hope because promises are not fulfilled.

 

Abraham might have thought the same as there was one promise that I will make you the father of nations.

Genesis 12:2

 

This is the promise he could not see while he was living.

 

Today we see the story of a prostitute.

That prostitute was Rahab.

She lived in the outer part of a city Jericho.

 

You know who is prostitute.

The life of prostitute is not a dream job for anyone.

It brings shame and disgrace to the whole family.

 

The disrespect she needs to face each day from everyone around cannot be expressed.

 

Let's see ahead there are 2 spies.

They came to check Jericho.

Joshua sent 2 Spies to check the condition of the country so that they may infiltrate the city and capture the promised land.

 

Joshua used brain to capture the land.

It was not like they will go and get it.

It was also a struggle.

 

How about us?

Can you see the promise God made you?

If yes, it's not always piece of cake.

We would require to study hard, work hard and pray hard.

It's highly unlikely that one day someone will come to your door and give you money or success in life without doing anything for that.

We need to use brain for that promise to become reality.

We would need some wise plan.

 

Now Jagga Jasoos are at work.

They don't want to get caught and look suspicious so they made a low profile.

They went to Rahab house to spend the night and do the research on the city.

 

Now somehow king got to know about them.

Rahab was very intelligent woman she knew what was going on.

She hid spies and told lie to the king.

Now here the life of Rahab is on the line.

To get what she wanted she was ready to even die. Not only die she risked her whole family and household.

 

If incase she might have been caught.

King would definitely killed whole household.

 

Now when police  left she went to the spies and told everything that she knows.

She knows who they are and what they are here for.

She even remembers a incident from 40 years ago and said like it was yesterday.

All the Israel victory she knew.

 

In return for hiding them she wanted safety of her and her household.

 

This is very wise decision.

She could have asked money, huge amount.

She could have asked for some short term gift. Because she couldn't know if they will fulfill the promise.

But because she was knew that God whom Israel serves she asked something very important.

She trusted men yes but all the way more she trusted God of Israel that he will deliver this land to Israel so he made a right choice.

 

How about us?

Do we look for the promise and not the opportunity we have at our hand.

Your studies and your career.

God gave you for a purpose. Its an opportunity now what will you do next will define the outcome of your story.

 

These spies were also very good men.

They promised her in very formal way and gave conditions why and how this will de done.

It is like a Hollywood movie.

The promise had conditions.

The condition if she didn't tell what they are going to do.

If she did not reveal the secret.

 

Not only her but her whole household will be saved.

 

In Bible Acts 16 when Jailer came to Paul and Silas and asked him what shall I do to be saved?

Acts 16:31

Believe in the Lord and you will be saved, you and your household.

 

This is amazing extension of God's grace.

I have see this in my family and with others family too.

 

God is not limited to us.  Like last week bro Jatin taught us about the light of the world.

Grace of God is extended to our families also.

 

Joshua Bible 6:23-25

Here promise that two men made was fulfilled.

 

Conclusion:

My friends, it is a blessing that we know God and have had encounter with God.

Nothing in our life is more significant than this thay we know the true God.

For Rahab it was same.

She was prostitute not noble, not even ordinary woman but a failure.

 

Your life right now is not half bad as Rahab.

But everything changed.

 

By her faith. Her wisdom.

She made treaty with Israel and she became important woman in the history and ancestor of Jesus.

She was married to Salmon of tribe Royal Juda.

Jesus will be born through this same tribe.

No matter what we are going through the shore might look real far but with God nothing is impossible.

God has not selected us because we are great people but because we are not and through our weakness he will shine.

Prostitute cannot become the wife of a Royal Judah tribe but because God work is there she could.

Rahab chose to stand for God and His people even though she was not among them at that time.

And she became one of the great people of God by her faith.

 

Her faith : she believed that God gave this land to Israel

Her action : She chose to stand for Israel -> she allowed the spies of Israel to stay in her house. And she hid them from the polices of Jericho. In this way she stood for God.

Abraham's faith : Abraham believed that God will make him the father of nations.

Abraham's action :

1. Abraham chose to stay in the land of God.

2. Abraham inherited his name and all things to Isaac who was given by God as an heir.

 

Faith in heart : "I trust in you Lord however, I don't see the future. However, path is blurry. I will trust you Lord."

Faith at Action : So I will have faith in you Lord although my past is not good.

I will trust in you Lord however I don't see the future.

I know your promise are there and I will keep hold of them.

Our faith in God should not of only what we can see but for the things what we can't see because that is true faith.

I trust in you Lord however, I don't see the future. However, path is blurry.

I will trust you Lord.

Abraham could not see himself become the father of nations because he died bit God said and it was done.
